Players wishing to learn the location of the Unalloyed Gold Needle must first seek for it from the NPC Gowry in Caelid which is located in Elden Ring Runes his shack just past the south gate to Selia, City of Sorcery. (Marked by an orange dot across the top of the map) Gowry needs the needle to treat a woman named Millicent of her illness, the same disease which has transformed Caelid into a toxic hellscape. Gowry offers one hint and tells the players to look towards the Swamp of Aeonia, in the heart of Caelid.

Fighting Commander O'Neil

In the Swamp of Aeonia which is located on the eastern side of the swamp, there is a large boss arena featuring a battle with Commander O'Neil. The Commander is armed with a dangerous spear and spreads scarlet-rot using his special attacks, which can also create shockwaves of wind that could knock the player down. What makes the fight more difficult is his entourage of Soldiers. When he's first attacked the soldier will launch the move, which causes a variety of archers and spectral soldiers to appear, who can cause a lot of cheap Elden Ring Items damage by launching bows. When he is half-healthy, he'll launch another attack and summon spectral soldiers with axes which have an enormous amount of health. They can deal massive damage through their slow attacks. Slaying Commander O'Neil will reward players with the Unalloyed Gold Needle.
